I once saw a post on here that said always send your resume in PDF format and that’s when I knew people had no idea what the fuck they were talking about.

You always send a Word doc. Most hiring managers have no idea what the fuck Reader is, but they always have Word for some odd reason even though Adobe Reader is free and Microsoft Word is not.

You can make a Word readable resume using Google Docs if you didn’t “buy” Microsoft Word and Microsoft Office’s website has resume and CV templates you can copy. There’s ones for Google Docs online if you search.

Do not use a PDF unless they specifically ask for one. I guarantee you will not hear back from that job.

garbage advice for the theatre industry. word documents are editable. PDFs are not. Every single theatre professional I have talked to has sworn by PDFs. And I’ve talked to a lot.

This post makes zero sense. You can open PDFs in other programs. You send your resume in a PDF format so that when someone else opens it, it looks exactly how you made it. Different versions of word or opening something in google docs means it changes your damn formatting.

Also you can open PDFs in Google Docs? And in literally any program you have to open images with? If for some reason you don’t have reader.

But like, I’m concerned about any hiring manager that doesn’t know how to open a PDF. Here’s just a few things I’ve received in PDF format: bank statements, contracts, hiring paperwork, rental statements, lease agreements, financial statements, and online receipts (especially for things like plane tickets). If the hiring manager is asking for you to send them an e-mailed resume, they should be able to handle a PDF.

In fact I know several hiring managers that think receiving word documents instead of PDFs is unprofessional.

The fact that billionaires exist is an extremely important example of the inherent hierarchal structure of capitalism. You can’t genuinely believe that ONE person can work 600x harder than their employees, it’s physically impossible, yet we see it as normal. They aren’t working 600x harder, they’ve simply been exploiting people to get on top, and using the state as a tool to keep their position and crush any opposition.

When unions and protests are frowned upon, it’s no wonder that workers don’t get their fair share. People all around the world fight back. They’re just killed or thrown in jail. The struggle is there, we’ve just been brainwashed to think it’s wrong.

The idea that the state and ruling class shouldn’t be coercively dictating people’s everyday lives to fit their interests isn’t nearly as radical as you’ve been told it is.
